Welcome to GloCAN
The Global Citizens’ Assembly Network (GloCAN) is a research collective that generates actionable insights to inform policymakers, funders, process designers, advocates and the wider community of practice designing, implementing, and evaluating global citizens’ assemblies.
The Network was founded in 2023, after the launch of the evaluation report of the world’s first Global Assembly on the Climate and Ecological Emergency.
Global and transnational citizens’ assemblies bring together everyday people from around the world to learn, deliberate, and make judgments or recommendations on a topical issue.
In the past few years, there have been growing calls and initial pilots to organise these forums. Global and transnational citizen deliberation is proposed as a way to accelerate global action on pressing issues such as climate emergency, AI regulation, and global poverty.
Our network studies these global and transnational citizen deliberation to document cases, learn from experience and practice, and produce reflections and recommendations.

Our research programme
Our current research programme focuses on convening, governing, grounding, and docking global and transnational citizen deliberation.
